Hello Emma fans,
Thanks to the amazing Claire for reminding us that we never posted the excellent (but unfortunately anonymous) review that was given of Emma’s performance after an early screening of OotP 😉
“Emma is a consummate professional which is to say that she’s picking up all the good acting habits from the fabulous talent and hundreds of years of combined experience from the actors on set. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Emma break out and become a real movie star in the future. She’s got the chops and you don’t just develop that over time. Don’t be surprised to see her at the Academy Awards some day. When she’s done with the Potter series, you’ll be amazed at what she is capable of. I really mean this.”
(When Emma gets an Oscar, I’ll personally be smirking and telling everyone: “Told you so yeaaaaaars ago 😛 )
Anyway, you can read the full article here at The Leaky Cauldron (beware: lots of spoilers!) 🙂
Have a nice day!

Basically I agree with Krum. But we have to remember that not all people are going to understand multi layered acting, just like some people simple don't get overall complexity of human emotions. Such people are going to prefer simplistic acting (when actor is conveying only one dominant emotion/attitude/function in the scene) over complex one. Its just the way it is, and mind that they are part of movie audience as well and always has been. Additional problem with movies like HP is – that they are generally simple, seen predominantly as mass entertainment. So many expect from actors participating in such productions just simple, schematic performances – exactly in the same fashion as they expect multi dimensional acting in psychological dramas. Actor who is trying to cross the boundaries (like in this case Emma) is risking of being misunderstood by significant portion of the audience. Don't forget that many HP fans honestly believe that all Hermione is just annoying know it all and they literally don't want to see anything more in this character.
Hey, Sam…I like eggs. Does that make me obsessive and obnoxious? No…I like Emma too. I think she's a good actress…and so do alot of other people both inside and outside of the movie industry. That's all I'm saying…chill yo'self!!!
Basically i agree with Krum 😉 But i couldnt any better said like blo did!!!! but thank you both guys for explaining myself!
I know this is old, but when I realised that it wasn't on the site I sent in the quote and review… It really is an excellent review! She should be extremely proud of how far she has come.
exactly! and thats it whats all abaout! we should be proud of her
To those of you who believes that her acting isn't good enough, well, stars who're already legendary at the dawn of their careers are rare;that's in general, even in sports,music,..etc. Bottom line is, Emma Watson got the potential, and it'll be hard for ANYBODY to disaegree with that. Don't worry fellow Emma fans;to those who negatively criticize her on purpose:Revenge will be so-SWEET when she got there.
Having seen Emma in all 4 HP films I would rate her acting skills as average. There are some moments on-screen in which she's good but there are also others in which she's not so great and could have done a better job. I highly doubt she'll ever get an oscar nomination but if she does I'm pretty sure it won't be for her role as Hermione. And before all of you start with the 'what do you know about acting?' argument, let me say I've watched many good performances from child and teenage actors (ex: Dakota Fanning in I am Sam).
None of us are saying she will get an Oscar for Harry Potter. We are just saying that she has the potential to grab that nomination in the future, after Hermione.
I´ll simply just wait and see how she´ll do AFTER the Harry Potter movies are done
