About the job offers she gets (2007): "Only things I don't want to do. Most of them are roles for the typical American high school student, which is, to be honest, my worst nightmare. I know I've been lucky so far, but I just need another bit of luck in order not to make mistakes in this particular moment of my life. Auditions are really hard, and being rejected is always a bad experience. But I'll keep trying."

Two new awesome interviews!!! // 29 April 2007

Hello Emma fans,

We have two great new interviews for you today! Thanks to Solo from our boards, unforgivable-curses.net and everyone else that sent us the information. You all rock! 🙂

First of all, The Leaky Cauldron just posted a very interesting new Emma interview (from the Italian magazine Donna): in it, Emma talks about OotP and J.K. Rowling but also says that she would like to live in Paris (my city! yay!) and that she would be interested in studying Philosophy or Literature when she goes to University… As you can guess, this interview is definitely a must-read, Emma really seems to open up in it 🙂  so don’t waste any time and click here to read it! 😆

Also, DailyBulletin.com has a new Emma interview, in which she addresses the rumor about her not returning as Hermione in the last HP movies and talks about what Dan & Rupert mean to her:

“Emma Watson, who’ll be seen as bossy Hermione Granger for the fifth time in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” (July 13) says that she’ll be attending Hogwarts through graduation.

“They just decided, on absolutely nothing to go on, that they were just going to make up one way or another what I was doing,” the English actress says of reports that she wanted to pull out of the popular kid wizard series before its sixth and final seventh episodes are filmed. “I guess they got the idea that I wasn’t going to complete the series because I actually took some time to think about it. The press are a bit funny like that.”

Oxford native Watson, who turned 17 this month and is currently cramming for her college entrance exams, happily chose to stick with co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint to the end. All are anxiously awaiting J.K. Rowling’s last novel in the best-selling phenomenon, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” to find out what happens to their beloved characters. The book comes out eight days after “Phoenix” hits theaters.

When you think about it, it would be nearly impossible for one of the young actors not to complete Hermione, Harry and Ron Weasley’s journey into adulthood. After all, the three of them have grown up sharing a connection as unique as the aspiring magicians’.

“Daniel and Rupert are the only other people in the world who will ever understand what it is like to have been through what I have been through,” Watson notes. “I think we have quite a special bond. Even if we hated each other and didn’t get on at all, we would always have that. That’s important to me, being able to talk to them about it and going through it all with them.”

While acknowledging that all of the Harry Potter stories are in some way coming-of-age tales, Watson says that the magical friends do more growing up than ever in “Phoenix.”

“It’s about realizing that what you are told is not always the best, and that thinking for yourself is sometimes more important,” she observes. “And it’s important to trust yourself and make decisions for yourself.”

Lesson, apparently, learned.”

Update: some of you expressed their concern that the Donna magazine interview was “fake” and asked that we checked its authenticity. To go straight to the point: we have no way of doing that. We are not in contact with the magazine, and even if we were, it’s unlikely that they would admit the interview is “fake”. The Leaky Cauldron, which is a very respectable Harry Potter website and is known for its reliable content, posted the translated interview first and we chose to rely on them for its authenticity. 😉

Enjoy and have a nice day! 😆

  1. Kat xx says:

love these new interviews – emma has such an fantastic unique insight into life and harry potter! she really has grown up and sounds so sure of herself. Her knowledge of most things is very mature and is obviously well educated, its just ashame that the pap have given her hard times over the years which has probably meant she had tp grow up pretty quick. i wish her the best of luck in the future as she seems a very confident clever young woman!

  2. raluca(romania) says:

first! 😛 emma is a very opened-minded person and i realy do like her way of thinking…she`s so down to earth and very conscious of what she`s doing :razz:there`s no person that could have represented hermione better

  3. raluca says:

    second, sorry 😆

  4. Hiltje says:

2nd!!!! these interviews are just great! just like kat said..she souds so mature and confident!

  5. Hiltje says:

haha that makes me third 😛

  6. Alexandra says:

Great interviews! She wants to do excactly what I want to do in the future – travel a lot, live in France, Paris for a while and go to the University. She seems to be a very nice girl, and very "normal" as well!

  7. Michelle says:

Such great interviews! 🙂 And she likes Amsterdam, that's in my country! 😛

  8. Sandrine says:

Very interesting interviews! I totally agreed with her and appreciate a lot her way of thinking! she seems very mature. I'm very proud of her! And as a French, I am very exciting by her desire to travel in Paris and make some french movies! I encourage her in this way!

  9. Marie-Jo says:

OMG!! GREAT INTERVIEWS! Emma is just so mature and down-to-earth! And she wants to study philosophy which is incredibly difficult!! She is the coolest of them all!!!

  10. kiakkia says:

    great interviews!!! 😆 😆 😆 🙂

  11. Nimy says:

Terrific!! She's a wonderfull person with lots of qualities, no doubt 😉 And I hpe that those interviews will mean new pics 😆

  12. tj says:

can someone explain me what Emma meant when she said 'we hated each other' while talking about Dan and Rupe? Is the rumor that they aren't taking anymore except one the set when they're filming's true?(i read that somewhere).. i'd really appreciate an answer from someone ..

  13. Neve says:

To tj: Emma didn't say that she, Dan and Rupert hated each other, she just said that even if they did (which is not the case), they would still share a special bond given what they've been through together. The fact that she used that example just shows how strong their friendship is 🙂 I hope I could help!

  14. e says:

um, where can i find a translation of that first article? =/

  15. Neve says:

To e: in which language? 😕

  16. Keana says:

Wow, Emma is such a beautiful person inside and out! I loved those interviews, but it kind of bothered me when she said that whoever wrote about Harry Potter being sexist and non-conservative was in an idiot…did she really mean that? Otherwise, I love her interviews. They're both absolutely beautiful. 😉

  17. Javiera says:

hello 😛 Im chilian yeahh n.n and i love that site 🙂 the news are very great! but i don't undertand all very well ^^ and when your gallery it will be online? i wanna see the OOTP's pictures 😛 congratulations for the site! bye

  18. Pete says:

Playing stereotypical american high-school girls is her worst nightmare… THANK GOD FOR THAT! Lol! She sounds more intelligent, broad minded and politicized than ever. GREAT INERVIEW!!! Thanks a lot! Tchau, Adi

  19. emmafangirl2 says:

nice interviews i like the quotes 😆

  20. hannah says:

:lol:great interveiws! 😆 but i have one problem some idiot rejected her for a role she wanted 😥 hoe could they! they obviously don't know talent! 😡 but i think the interveiw are great she really came out and wow pretty much! 🙂 😆

  21. Mia says:

I remember emma saying that she wanted to act a high school student, why did she change her words? Emma-Watson.Net posted the interview im talking about a long time ago but why did she change what she said? & why did she say 'idiot'? that's reli not polite

  22. morning_star says:

Truthfully I wouldn't trust anything that is from another country like this. They've been known to completely fabricate interviews, or piece other things together. And unless it is over the phone, how come such an exclusive doesn't include new pictures? Plus I think with the trio, scripts are sent to them, I don't believe they actually have to audition… And e-mailing JKR?! Even her R/Hr "compliments" don't seem her. It just doesn't rub me as an actual Emma interview.

  23. Jo says:

    I love Emma!

  24. VFE says:

THE ARTICLE IN 'DONNA' MAGAZINE IS **FAKE**, NO SUCH INTERVIEW EVEN TOOK PLACE. PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE IT.

  25. VFE says:

Just to add, Emma's A level studies finish when she is 18 and the University starting age is 18, not 17 or 19. She hasn't got enough time between finishing her A levels and starting University to live in France so many of 'details' in that article don't add up.

  26. Shiryu says:

Very interesting interviews 🙂 However, being Italian, I suggest to take with a bit of salt the first one. She probably expressed those concepts, but it wouldn't surprise me if the wording was somewhat different. Some lines have a style that seems unusual compared to other interviews. 😕

  27. Jaana says:

Hmmm…. Interesting…. I agree with morning_star. I think the first interview is a fake. It just doesn't seem like Emma at all in parts. 😕

  28. VFE says:

@ Neve, just one more thing, and I don't mean to sound rude. But in the past articles like this were always checked for authenticity BEFORE they were posted. This article is clearly fake as it contains a glaring inconsistency in it regarding what Emma *apparenty* plans to do in the next two years before she turns 19 – travelling around the world and living in France? She's currently in the first of TWO A level years, AND will be filming TWO Harry Potter films. That will take her up til she's 20. And Emma would never say that she doesn't like anything English. So I was just wondering why this article hadnot been checked before it was posted.

  29. Sheila says:

Totally agree with VFE! This Donna interview sounds sooo fake, just not like Emma!

  30. Holly says:

Geeze, okay maybe the interviews weren't authentic (maybe they were??) but why take this out on the staff who only try to consistently deliver us new news to keep us happy, honestly when can they ever win?!

  31. Mia says:

Plus i remember reading that she wanted to act as a normal high school girl, then here is says that she doesn't?? huh?? i dont reli understand

  32. VFE says:

@ Holly, clearly you missed the bit when I said "I don't mean to sound rude." In other words, I wasn't having a go at the staff, just asking a genuine question. Emma is getting BASHED for this article on a number of websites including ONTD and IMDb. This is one particular site where we want to protect Emma from that.

  33. Chris says:

I must admit, the first interview did sound slightly made up, or maybe some of the article was lost in translation, but it doesn't sound very Emma-like. Who knows, it could possibly be a genuine interview. Does the magazine have a reputation for making stories up?

  34. tsss...rubbish says:

That italian interview is absolutely dumb in my opinion.I think it is a bad fake!

  35. Julie says:

Her comment about Dan & Equus was out of order, who does she think she is? mind your words next time Miss Watson. 😡

  36. Chris says:

Julie: If it was Emma speaking, I think she was making it perfectly clear that she would not be appearing nude on stage any time soon, as Dan has done. Nothing against him or the play.

  37. Sigh says:

Get a grip, Julie. The article is fake anyway.

  38. Julie says:

I've got a grip Sigh, let's hope it was fake otherwise she needs a slap, taking the piss and disrespecting Dan's choices is wrong, and I'm not alone in thinking that. If she's made a mistake Emma lovers, admit it, she's not perfect after all, and if it is fake, then I'll admit my mistake, then everyones happy.

  39. Janny says:

    Oh,I love you, Emma! 😆

  40. VFE says:

Do yourself a favour, Julia, and go and look at that magazine's website. Google "Donna magazine", see for yourself the type of magazine they are. You've been on this site plenty of times in the past bashing Emma so it's no surprise that you believe this article is real. Also, i wrote this before to show where the magazine's rubbish: "This article is clearly fake as it contains a glaring inconsistency in it regarding what Emma *apparenty* plans to do in the next two years before she turns 19 – travelling around the world and living in France? She's currently in the first of TWO A level years, AND will be filming TWO Harry Potter films. That will take her up til she's 20."

  41. Julia says:

Well as I said, if it is shown to be fake, I'll admit I'm wrong and my faith in Miss Watson will be restored. Can you show me where I've bashed Emma in the past?, I can't actually remember, so can you admit you're wrong if you have no proof, thanks.

  42. Danielle says:

🙂 Some Emma News! Yeh! I thought these interviews were fantastic coz It shows just how much Emma has grown up but in a way she is still a very down to earth type of person & I think that is one of the best quilitys in a person. I loved how in the first interview they were talking abt politics and how she expressed her opinions in a very clear way! I couldn't beleive she had been turned down and some oddisions but i suppose it happens to every1! Even Emma! These interviews rocked thx EW.NET & Nice potd! Can't wait till July 13th! SO EXCITED! xxx [ps] Im so glad shes a ron & hermione shipper! coz so am I 😉

  43. Samantha says:

Pfff, i thought i was the only one who found the first interview a bit odd, it doesn't sound much like Emma at all. I thought it might be just me…

  44. Inmaculada says:

Lo que dice Emma es verdad ,sobre Hermione esta ve las normas no le gustan tanto como ante.tiene que ayudar a su amigos y compa

  45. S. says:

Thanks for the update E.W.net but Leaky Cauldron don't check for authenticity right away. They've removed articles in the past after finding out they were suspect, sometimes DAYS after. Is there no way you could contact Emma's agent or PR people to find out if the article is true? Presumably you've contacted them before to give Emma her birthday gifts.

  46. liz says:

I really don't thik it's real (the intervew) couse she was to rude when she said about Equus….and second she said time ago that she wanted to play an american high school girl…plus, she might be clever…but the politics disscusions, her words were like TOO clever…let's face it

  47. Mia says:

Thank u liz, I remember that she said that too! thanx, i made sure now about that.

  48. Krum says:

If it's a real interview, then I like her maturity, intelligence, and wit…but I wouldn't be surprised if all or parts of it were taken out of context.

  49. Irene says:

I really love these new interviews !!

  50. Irene says:

I really love these new interviews ! bless her!
