About whether or not she wants to remain an actress (2006): "I really don't know. Daniel and Rupert seem so sure. I don't know. I wouldn't want "Harry Potter" to be the last thing I do. Nothing is ever going to be quite on the scale of this. I appreciate that. And also I've come into acting in such a funny way. Most people who want to act have to sit through hours of auditioning and work their way up, whereas I seemed to have come straight in at the top, having had no experience at all. That's quite a strange position to be in, but amazing at the same time because it has given me so many options and choices. I definitely would like to try other films to see what it's like. I'd really like to try some theater, actually, because I think I would really enjoy that immediate response from an audience. I love making people laugh. I love to perform, but there are so many things I love doing (pauses) Maybe that seems ungrateful. I have been given such an amazing opportunity, but I'll just have to go with the flow and see what happens."

Emma Speaking French // 7 October 2008

Ok, Emma speaking French isn’t that surprising, but we rarely get to hear it. On the French TV Canal + program Le Petit Journal People they asked  several celebrities at Fashion week to say “Bonjour le Petit Journal”, including Claudia Schiffer, Paul McCartney and Emma. Click the image below, or go here to watch the video. Emma appears about 25 seconds in, and again for a couple seconds at about 2 minutes.

Fashion writer Derek Blasberg was at Fashion Week and had this to say about Emma in his Style.com blog:

The sweetest person I’ve met this Paris fashion week has been Emma Watson, the 18-year-old British actress making her first trek to the Parisian collections. “I’ve been to fashion shows before, like the Chanel show that was in London in December,” she told me. “But this is the first time I’ve been to shows like this. This is my first time at fashion week, and let me tell you, it’s pretty intense.” She’s made a pretty good first run: spending a few hours actually looking at the pictures at Patrick Demarchelier’s exhibit at the Petit Palais (how novel) on Tuesday night, attending Sonia Rykiel’s anniversary fashion show and party (”That was amazing!”), and going to a handful of the big fashion shows, like Giambattista Valli (”I don’t even know where to begin”) and Chanel (”Now, that was a big deal”). But Watson’s got her sights on something beyond mere fashion: After her time in Paris, she’s planning a trip to the East Coast to look at universities.
