The weekend edition of Access Hollywood had a longer segment on TTOD yesterday and actually included questions on TTOD this time. Update: You can download the video in Xvid format.
There are a couple new articles online about Tale of Despereaux that are a good read. In an interview on Canada.com, Emma talks about audtioning for the role, her character Princess Pea, and what it was like doing a voice performance.
In an article on the Sudbury Star TTOD producer Gary Ross had high praise for Emma.
“I think she is the most talented young actress of her generation. I think of everybody coming out of the Harry Potter movies, with all due respect to them, she’s the one you go, ‘Oh my god, this is a classic movie star and will have a very, very long career.’
“She has a Kate Hepburn grace or Grace Kelly countenance, in terms of her style and bearing and how articulate she is, and at the same time she is a hell of a good actress. She’s somebody who has complete control over what she’s doing and amazing facility. The girl’s 18 years old.
“You’re seeing someone who’s going to be an enormous movie star. You’re seeing someone who just brings so much craft and dignity in what she does and approaches it. Look at her contemporaries … and look at how this girl is handling both her career and her attitude toward her craft, and how in control of her craft she is. I’ve worked with a lot of actors and she can make complex adjustments on a dime. She has tremendous control. This is a very sophisticated actress already.”

Good finds. Emma looks as gorgeous as ever. She doesn't need make-up or fancy dresses to be beautiful. She is a natural beauty and my heart beats faster whenever I see her. In a film full of A-list actors, it is an amazing thing for Emma to recieve such praise. I agree with Gary Ross. 🙂

Gary Ross is right: she is the most talented young actress of her generation (or maybe one of the most). It´s difficult to describe her talent using mere words, it´s something you can only feel everytime you see her acting on the screen or attending an important event. Whenever and wherever I see Emma, I feel her sparkle, and I sincerely believe that she has the aptitude to arouse beautiful feelings in the people. I´m so sure she will get an Oscar very soon and I hope to be there. Go Emma, this is just the beginning 🙂

Just goes to show, a pretty face can get you anywhere. What a load of BS that Ross bloke talks. She's nothing like the old-style film-stars, THEY CAN ACT!!!! She's very good at manipulation but I can see through her easily, Emma's a foney.

I absolutely agree with Ross. It's so nice to hear it said by a director. The simple truth is,despite the whining of jealous girls trying to attract attention to themselves, that Emma is a star. She has star quality, whatever that magical quality is. Very few people have it. Guys adore her, as do most self-confident girls. From the moment she stepped onto the Hogwarts express ("has anyone here seen a toad? A boy named Neville's lost one.") she has, for millions of people, been the most outstanding presence in the Harry Potter films. She has charm, personality, looks, ability, and that magical something that can't be defined. What an absolute winner! 😆

I COMPLETELY agree with Gary Ross…she's an exceptional young person and a GREAT role model for everyone especially for the young people in her generation. I really admire her as an actress and as a person…especially her sophisticated sense of style and her devotion to her education. 🙂 😉 😛 🙂 😆
