About why she decided to work with People Tree (2010): "Girls I've spoken with are as conscientious as ever, yet there's so little ethical clothing out there for people my age. In a way, I did it for me because I couldn't find what I wanted in stores," says Emma. "This collection reflects my casual side, the stuff I'd wear to class. The cuts are sexier than most sustainable brands. I'm a perfectionist, so I couldn't sleep if something wasn't exactly the way I wanted."

Emma Watson Collaborates with People Tree

There have been rumors of Emma designing her own clothes line for some time now. Well now the real story is out. She is not designing a line but she has been a creative advisor for a new collection with People Tree. People Tree supports fair trade fashions and much of the new line uses organically grown, fairly traded coton, and are made entirely by hand providing jobs in poor countries.

“I wanted to help People Tree produce a younger range because I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with. It has been the most incredible gap year project.”

The collection is a spring/summer line and will launch in February next year.

You can read a lot more about this in a new announcement on Emma’s official site.
