About how she heard about People Tree (2010): "I've been interested in Fair Trade for about three or four years now and one day I met a friend who was wearing a nice t-shirt and I asked him where it was from and he told me People Tree. I had never heard of People Tree before and he started telling me about the brand and he was also a friend of Safia's and so he introduced me. I was just really interested in it. I thought it was a really cool idea and when I met Safia we really clicked. And a couple of weeks later she asked me whether I would be interested in putting together a range for the people my age as a lot of the People Tree clothes were for 20 years and up. And I thought this was a really great idea as I don't think there is a huge amount out that which is Fair Trade or organic. I thought it was a pretty cool idea and I got to work straight away and we put together this range."

Emma back at Uni and More People Tree

Emma has updated her official site saying she is now back at Uni. She mentions filming for Deathly Hallows and her People Tree Collection. (The message is on the home page, not an e.m.s.)

Earth Girl
Emma’s Fair Trade line is #1 on TeenVogue’s Spring Fashions Top 10 Hot List.

Emma explains why she decided to collaborate with People Tree
“Girls I’ve spoken with are as conscientious as ever, yet there’s so little ethical clothing out there for people my age. In a way, I did it for me because I couldn’t find what I wanted in stores,” says Emma. “This collection reflects my casual side, the stuff I’d wear to class. The cuts are sexier than most sustainable brands. I’m a perfectionist, so I couldn’t sleep if something wasn’t exactly the way I wanted.” Her proudest achievement? “I made sure everything felt good. Organic clothes can be scratchy, but ours feel heavenly!”

This is featured in the March issue of TeenVogue. EWO has a scan in the February 11 update.

Emma and her collection were also featured in a recent issue of Heat magazine, and you can find a scan of that article in EWO’s February 4 update.

Finally, People & Planet has posted a new picture of Emma modeling one of the dresses in the collection.

I have been having issues with Emma's official site for a while. While the main page and the main news page load perfectly, every time I click on the other features I just get a blank white screen that I can't even use the "Refresh" button to fix. It's really getting on my nerves since I want to send comments on the site but it won't let me. 🙁 Anyway, I hope Emma has fun at Brown and I am glad to see that her People Tree collection has been getting great reviews so far. And she's gorgeous as usual. 🙂

That is a VERY good review from the Times, which is a very classy but notoriously no-nonsense paper. (Which I for one appreciate). If they don't like something, they have no problem telling you why, and don't hesitate to use adjectives like 'third-rate.' But Emma's work was analyzed with a clear and non-sentimental eye, and came out looking first-class. Magnificent review. I think this People Tree thing is going to catch fire and take off. Amazing girl, our Emma!

Edward, couldn't have said it better myself.

Personally I am loving all this People Tree coverage! By far Emma's best project yet, and for an amazing cause. Ups to you girl.

I finally managed to send a message to Emma with help from weblinks to pages on her site(it only goes white after I click on two areas), but I won't be able to send notes since it automatically logs out once you exit the site. Really weird problem. I wonder if my Flash is outdated. It's awesome that Emma's line is getting great reviews, even from the toughest critics. I think it's going to be a hit as well. 🙂

Well said, Edward 🙂 Times review is precious for a new designer like Emma. She and her line got really good start.

Awesome!!! Love Emma!! She's an amazing person and such a talented actress! Her People Tree collection is so cute! I've already ordered a couple of items. I'm waiting on some of the others to be stocked though. A lot of them say, "coming soon." I know a lot of the items are even sold out already, so it's definitely doing well. I'm so HAPPY for our EMMA!!!! 🙂 😉 😆

  19. Celia says:
