About Valentine's Day (2007): "I find Valentine's Day quite stressful; there are such high expectations. So I'd go with Halloween - it's more fun. I like dressing up - once I was a pumpkin! "

Emma’s New Hair Style

I think most of you know already that Emma had her hair cut a few days ago. Now Emma has posted a new headshot on her facebook, saying “I’ve wanted to do this for years and years; it’s the most liberating thing ever.

Update: Entertainment Weekly gives us a sneak peek at another picture of Emma’s new ‘do’ that will appear in their upcoming Fall Movie Preview issue. Emma talks about finally having the chance to change her hair style after 10 years of Potter. “Oh my God, it was the most liberating thing! The stylist just grabbed the back of my hair and took a whole ponytail of hair out. It felt amazing. I love it. I missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through, I’ve wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I had the chance I was like, ‘Right. This is it.'”

Update 2: Entertainment Weekly has posted another picture with a short article. Emma talks about how she felt getting her hair cut, and how she knew there would be a big reaction.

When filming ended, Watson’s hair was finally her own. She could have cut her hair immediately, but she decided to wait a bit. “It didn’t feel right then; I needed a break,” she tells EW.com exclusively. During the cut, designed by New York stylist Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salon, Watson never had a moment of panic or remorse. “It was weird. My hairdresser was like, ‘When are you going to freak out?’ Most people cry or go into shock,'” she says. “But I was very calm. I knew it was the right thing.” It helped, she said, that she didn’t tell anyone she was getting the drastic ‘do. “I went to the salon alone and I left alone,” she says. “I knew everyone was going to have an opinion, and I couldn’t deal with it. I have to get myself into a good place to deal with people saying things like, ‘It’s terrible! She looks like a boy!'” Says the actress, laughing, “My dad already said that to me, actually. He said, ‘You’re not Audrey Hepburn yet, darling.'”

Ouch. Thanks, Dad? “He’s like that. I think the best I’ve ever had out of him was before a premiere when he said I ‘scrub up alright.’ When people ask me how I keep myself grounded, there’s the answer.”

now she did like Britney Spears! I`m really worried about her, is she allright? ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

130671,I don`t know what you think I meant, but I actually admire her because you really have to be brave to do such a drastic change, but I agree it`s just hair and it`ll grow back.Oh, and I meant-it`s normal she wants to be Emma and not Hermione and she`s doing it right, the whole ½I wanna get rid off Hermione image½thing-she`s not going crazy-she`s smart-she`s on UNI,she`s changed her style and shes 20!So she has at least 10 more years to experiment cause she`s young…and I really think Emma doesn`t give a shit what people think, cause if she did she wouldn`t cut her hair she would stay Hermione 4ever-which would eventually became reaaalllyy boring. Bree I agree with you,it would be really cool if she would do a grown-up movie(somekind of drama maybe) with this style. Peace out ppl ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. HARALD says:

I'm a bit worried about all those negative comments. How about accepting that here's ayoung woman who's got her own mind and the courage to live it.If that stops you from being a fan, ok, change to one of those "tabloid beauties" that follow every craze just for publicity. It's just like changing your support for a certain footbal team just because they lost one match… nobody does that either really.

  5. laura says:

Emma said that she missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through.. but she`s not teenager anymore!! she´s 20!! she can`t behave like teenager and that´s why I´m worried ๐Ÿ˜ก it´s too late for her to be like teenager.. ๐Ÿ™

  6. Shinku says:

she is very pretty with short hair

  7. laura says:

I`m afraid Emma will become that kind of woman who mess around all the time.. should she go and talk to psychiatrist or something? it could still safe her ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

  8. Irene says:

Not bad, but she did it too early! I'm definitely more liked long hair. ๐Ÿ˜•

  9. Birgit says:

I really don't like it, hate it, it's awfull. But Emma loves it, so then everything is ok I guess.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ WhaTever, she will allways be beautiful whatever she does. She looks a bit like Halle Berry (one of the most beautifil woman I've ever seen). Like she tried to look like that, but it didn't work out well at รกll. If she's doing it to get rid of her hermione-image, she will never loose it, poor her but she'll allways remind people op the busy (long) haired girl witch I love so mutch. I understand though, a change must be good. But Emma's love's it, if she's shining you doesn't even sees her hair is short – or long, or curly or straight or blond, ore brown or pink ore purple with stars.. I love you Emma!! YTou allways look lovely, whatever you do

  10. Birgit says:

PS LAura please shut the hell up, Emma's fine. She oke, she doesn't needs to go the a psychiatrist. She's just being young. And when your young it's normal you change your style. If you have to gelieve you, every woman who cuts her hair of is on a bad road. Oh please. And she's definetly not like Britney Spears, I mean, Britney Spear was crazie in her mind for yรฉรกrs, emma is completely healthy (I hope). Besides, Britney just took everything away, Emma still gots hair, it's just vรฉry short. She doesn't needs help or needs to be saved. Keep calm, don'n crie like that arround.

  11. yvonne says:

she looks a tiny bit like twiggy to me (: it think it's super cute, and understanding, its normal she wanted the hermione image to go away. she needs to move on and this is her way t do so, i love it emma! you the best

  12. 130671 says:

Ivona, there`s really no mistaking what you meant in your previous comment – "i meant better cutting her hair, then going out and drinking and doing drugs and making a fool of herself, like other teen stars-or just stars(like….i don`t know-miley cyrus?)….anyway,go ems" – unless that was another Ivona. So please don`t make it look like I was making something up.

  13. ladygrace says:

    BEAUTIFUL.

  14. Dawn_in_Malaysia says:

    SHE'S UGLY LIKE THIS! ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

  15. laura says:

is Emma doing drugs too?! oh no! ๐Ÿ˜ฅ she really needs help, seriously!!

  16. Harald says:

@ 130671:I hope you meant " better THAN going out…" because your "then" means "afterwards"

  17. 130671 says:

Ivona said that, not me. Maybe I should start excerpts from other comments with "quote: …."

  18. laura says:

I think ivona meant than.. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  19. britishemmafan says:

She looks okay, but it's not my fav. I hope she grows it back, although I do still love her for being so grounded.

  20. Sam says:

if shes happy ok, and yes its only hair. but i think she looks like a little boy now. when i just concentrate on her face is she her beauty but when i look at her on a whole i see a little boy. i think its a shame shes done this cause to me it looks like a bad 90's hair style. but i guess if shes happy. unfortuanly i think ill tune emma out for a while i actually can't stand looking at the pictures.

  21. CRISTY says:

sam i feel the same way i have an emma watson fan site called soprettyemmawatson co nr and when i saw the pictures of emma online i thought (ok i can like emma anymore she gone were i can't follow) ๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ˜•

  22. cristy says:

    sorry i mean (ok, I can't like emma anymore cause she gone were i can't follow) ๐Ÿ˜ฅ ๐Ÿ˜ฅ ๐Ÿ˜ฅ ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

  23. minoo says:

i like it.she's still so beautiful.good job em.she just wanted to do sth new with her hair thats all&its so personal. i completely understand her.u were tired with ur hair right em?? :smile:i like it so much

  24. tree says:

She's escaping the good girl appearance and going for the devilmaker look. Nice? ๐Ÿ™‚ I think so.

  25. raffa says:

you seriously need to calm down why would she be on drugs just because she cut her hair? she's not like britney spears… she always wanted to have a change. just imagine you aren't allowed to try anything for so long. I loved Emmas long hair and she looked lovely with it, but she's not ugly now with the short one… why would she? she's still beautiful… or do you see any Botox in her face? I still adore her with the new hair cut and it makes me really happy to read that she likes it that much! you rock, Emma!!

  26. 130671 says:

๐Ÿ˜• OMG…I should have known that having anything about haircut and drugs in the same comment can only lead to drastic misunderstandings…

  27. FantasyGirl4 says:

LOOOVOE ITTT~!!!! she looks so older with that hair cutt too! Emma Watson is always beautiful as can be! SHe is FLAWLESS

  28. Harald says:

@ 130671: Don't let it make you lose any sleep! ๐Ÿ™‚

  29. tree says:

I agree with Harald, we know you meant no harm. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I guess we'll just have to wait for the calendar competition to calm this commotion… Although there will probably be a couple of participants using Emma's new look. ๐Ÿ™‚

  30. Hi says:

I WONDER IF SHE DONATED HER HAIR?

  31. Niamh says:

All this negativity is really getting out of hand. Being in the Harry Potter films, Emma would have felt that her hair wasn't hers to mess about with. It was the film companies, so for 10 years she's literally been banned from experimenting with different hair cuts and styles. So now the films have finished and she's finally got her freedom, she decided to cut her hair off. Now, the obvious idea would be the go for a bob, but that isn't as liberating as the pixie/boy cut. Look at Twiggy and Audrey Hepburn, they both pulled it off, and so can Emma. It doesn't change her as a person, she's still an amazing actress and person. Getting a hair cut won't change a persons personality, it's just a physical change. Also remember, hair grows.

  32. roxy°° says:

totally agree with Niamh!!! u got it right! emma is as beautiful as usual just with a different haircut ….and it s just hair- people calm down :)! she s got a very beautiful and unique face !!!!!

  33. tree says:

    This sounds better. ๐Ÿ™‚

  34. Kathy says:

I'm going to assume you guys are joking about drugs and drastic character changes. ๐Ÿ˜† There is absolutely no correlation between length of hair / change in length of hair to amount of drugs consumed / morality in a person.

  35. Jen says:

@Kathy – Seriously, I don't get all of these comments, either. Do all women who cut their hair short do drugs now? Lol.

  36. tree says:

I am glad now people are looking and commenting on the positive side. ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. dook says:

Would you all stop it about the drugs!Ivona made a simple error in what she wrote, using ‘then’ when it should have been ‘than’.She meant that it was better for Emma to cut her hair as a way to lose the Hermione image, and not the more typical way used by so many young celebrities, drugs and drinking. Ivona’s comment was supporting Emma, although I’m not convinced the haircut was to lose the Hermione image.

  38. KS987 says:

I'm surprised the moderators haven't deleted many of the nasty comments in this comment section. Regardless of whether you approve of Emma's haircut or not, you should be respectful about it. And she's gorgeous no matter what kind of hair she has. She's just having fun experimenting with it because she didn't get to before. Since she is an actress and a model, she needs to try and be seen from all angles so she can get a variety of different roles or photoshoots. That might be another reason why she did this, to show that she isn't afraid to take risks and is willing to expand her range. The fact she did it even when she didn't need to further gets that point across. ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. dook says:

I have deleted a number of comments that went beyond dislike of the hair style, and were just being hateful.I’m not going to start deleting comments just because I don’t agree with people’s opinions though.

  40. tree says:

Finally, someone is putting an end to the nasty comments.

  41. Window says:

@dook Thank you so much, Sometimes some people insult! I Can't stand it myself…It's the same on her Facebook page…Some People are very rude! ๐Ÿ˜ก

  42. Alyssa says:

Thank you, dook. For deleting those disrupting comments.

  43. Niamh says:

@roxy°° thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm just looking at it realistically.

  44. sayantan.em@gmail.com says:

Dear Em, You were very sexy and dazzling in your old and curly hair. But, your new haircut is really very very cool. Trust me you are looking great. After-all everyone has the freedom to change.

  45. Levi says:

I love it !!! I'm so happy that she's not one of those girls who keep their hair long to please the boys ๐Ÿ™‚ You go girl ๐Ÿ˜‰

  46. mimi says:

    It's ugly !

  47. Casia says:

intresting comments.I wont stop being her fan because of a bad hair cut. But yeah just cause i am a fan, i wont worship her what ever she does, i wont say i love her hair, when i am not. Sorry. I was disapointed that she doesnt smile that much she used to do,eyes so sad, like she is tired of HP, doesnt goes to events, doesnt really connects with the cast. I know it is undestandable, but i am little sad. i think we will never saw her in another movie after HP. She will quit acting i can feel, it seems she doesnt enjoy filming anymore. I will be sad, cause she was different from other actreses.

  48. laura says:

Casia, what are you talking about?! Emma seems so happy to me! and she just was in New York because of HP! also I`m sure she loves Dan, Rupert and other HP cast! don´t worry!

  49. maria says:

I was open when i was showed, didn't really shock me tho i had no idea that's what she'd done. Goon on her ๐Ÿ™‚ i think it looks ok – quite short lol, but nice. I think she still looks pretty. She's the same emma. Just a bit of a change that's all. Girls can be very protective about their hair. But i think it looks good for her. ๐Ÿ™‚

  50. Lindy says:

I like her new hairstyle, I think it makes her look mature in some ways. But if you don't like it, hey. It's going to grow back (:
