Distributer A24 has announced a US release date for Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring starring Emma Watson. According to Variety, the movie will open in limited release June 14. There is speculation that the trailer for The Bling Ring will debut in theaters with the March 15 opening of Spring Breakers, also distributed by A24.
Variety is also reporting that Emma is in “early talks” to play the title role in Disney’s Cinderella. Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) will direct the live action adaptation of the fairy tale. Cate Blanchett has signed on to play the wicked stepmother. The studio hopes to begin production this fall and release it next year.
Update: A tweet from Variety’s Marc Graser says Emma decided against Cinderella.

Finally, there is a release date for “The Bling Ring” but we have to wait a little while longer… It would be great if Emma plays Cinderella! (but I thought she had to play Beauty in “Beauty and the Beast”, What has become of that?)
Anyway, she’s wonderful. I can’t have a better role model 😀
I’m sure if Cate Blanchett is in then Emma will sign. You don’t say no to working with Cate. It will be interesting to see her as Bell in a very dark “Beast”, at least I assume it will be dark seeing as Del Toro is directing. Then as a contrast she will be in a Disney film? We will see though I think I’m fan girl enough that I’d see anything with her in it. I was kind of hoping for the new Star Wars films if she were doing something for Disney. Oh well beggars can’t be choosers. 🙂
Just a gut feeling, I doubt she will do both Cinderella and Beauty And The Beast. I think it will be one or the other. Guillermo Del Toro is directing Beauty And The Beast and he is notorious for having 10 projects on the go, and dropping out of projects etc so Cinderella might be the way to go. Plus it would be cool to see her working with Cate and directed by Keneth Branagh (who she’s know since she was 11 or something!)

I want to see Emma do both Belle and Cinderella, as long as both are quality and well written/directed. Reuniting with Kenneth Branaugh would be freakin cool!!

wow brillant choice! They couldnt get a better actress to wear Cinderella glass shoes, Emma has the most beautiful feet in the business!
Emma was recently seen holding what looked like a script, so maybe it has something to do with this. I hope we get more info on this project soon.
