About alleviating poverty through fashion (2010): "As someone who is very interested in fashion and has been doing a lot with the fashion world recently, I thought it was a really amazing idea to try to alleviate poverty through such a strong industry and it's something fun as well. Rather than giving to charity, this gives people the means to fight their way out of poverty themselves with dignity. It gives them the chance to work. It gives them their pride."

Emma Covers Marie Claire

Emma Watson has the cover feature in the February issue of Marie Claire UK. Their website features previews of the photoshoot, and some excerpts from the interview. The issue is on newstands now.

The actress, who incidentally is probably the most polite star we’ve ever met, revealed that she’s only recently found the confidence to ignore negative comments from the outside world.

Emma told us: ‘Now I feel a lot more settled in who I am and what I think and how I want to do things. And because I feel good about what I’m doing, I don’t need anyone else to say whether they think it’s good or not.’

In between her impressive movie career (she has three films coming out this year alone) and being the face of both Burberry and Lancome, Emma has managed to fit in a degree in literature at Brown University.

The 22-year-old, who found international fame playing Hermione in Harry Potter, opened up to us about what she really finds important in life. ‘ Friends and family come first and work comes second; that’s just how I live my life,’ she told us.

The actress credits her impressive work ethic to her parents (both lawyers) and a mild streak of OCD. ‘I’m a bit OCD about perfectionism. I’m my own worst critic. I think that’s really hard but it also spurs me on.’

That quote about putting her family before work says a lot about her as a person. She may be an actor, but her greatest attribute truly seems to be her heart.

Emma is such a wonderful and down to earth person. I’m glad that she knows how to ignore criticism that people tell her. And I also have in a little something too, so on bright side, me and Emma have this one thing in common. Great scans, great article. Thanks for sharing. 😀

Forgive my ignorance but… what does OCD mean? 🙁

    • dook says:

Obsessive–compulsive disorder. Google for a better description than I could give.

    • Chris says:

OCD is about perfectionism and extreme attention to detail. And with OCD has to repeat things in order to achieve the end goal. It seems with Emma she’s mostly referring to her professional and academic life. And it can revolve around many different things and the severity of it. I highly doubt it controls her life to the severity where she is constantly conscious of any slight imperfection around her.

        Wonderful explanation Chris, thanks! 😀

      • Jonny Carinthia says:

Yes, but I think, she has not the slightest idea what she was talking about. Is it “up to date” to have some sort of “disorder”, just to have something to talk about or make oneself interesting in interviews? People with OCD have servere problems to keep their life going, keeping their social contacts alive and stay out of depression. “Monk” is in some ways a good example. Again, as I said so often, her PR-people are horrible; more research and advice before such inapprpriate statements are really necessary. It is really a difference if you have OCD or just wanting to do things good, as Emma does.

I think she’s really clever and a very good human being. It’s good she considers her family and her friends more importants than her job.
She is an awesome actress. She is my favourite actress. I think she will have an amazing career.

What’s the most amazing thing about her is the fact that even though she’s one of the most famous, successful actresses of her generation, and doesn’t even need to study ever again, she still wants to get a degree at uni. Remarkble person, so normal. The pictures used are all stunning.

She’s becoming a “Great” model. I wonder if she got any pointers from her friend “Sophie Sumner”. She just won Americas Nest Top Model 2012. Yay! Also I think Emma’s other friend Amy Vaver is now dating Logan Lerman. Such a cute couple. Amy has been Emma’s friend forever and she seems like such a nice person. Emma’s becoming like Oprah everything she touches turns to gold. JK

I ment Next not Nest my screen has a virus thingy and there’s these like black whole planet things on it Crazy!!! The PC guy said I’d have to get a new laptop and can’t just replace the screen. Problem…no money. Oh well sorry for the misspelled words. Peace!

Three films coming out this year?? That’s a bit confusing – I count The Bling Ring, This is the End… and Noah is due for 2014. The way it was phrased “this year alone’, they’re making it seem like she has done dozens of post-Potter projects – which she hasn’t had the time for.

Also, ‘a degree in literature’ seems a bit premature – she hasn’t graduated yet, to my knowledge. Hasn’t she deferred from Brown since late 2010?

    • Jonny Carinthia says:

She spent a year “at home” in Oxford at Oxford University, but yes, she was more making movies in the last 18 month and flying around the world then attending university. People having the habbit to make her a infallible godess, also journalists. So such articles must be read with care and the necessary distance.

I just love and admire Emma so much. She just is so grounded, so down to earth. She loves her family and friends, cares about world issues, and is trying to complete her college degree at a very prestigious, difficult university. To top it all off, she has been flourishing as an amazing talented young actress the last few years. The last 2 Potter movies, Perks..now Bling Ring coming up!!!! Emma is the type of young celebrity I would love to see more of in our society. Go Emma! 🙂 Also, once again, Emma just looks so stunning and gorgeous in this shoot-natural beauty inside and outside.
