About her favourite directors (2009):"Well, I shouldn't say I have a favorite director-that wouldn't be very diplomatic. But one of the people I enjoyed working with most was Alfonso Cuaron [who directed Watson in the third Potter film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)]. I have a real thing for Mexican directors. And I love Guillermo del Toro and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu."

Ballet Shoes Reviews // 28 December 2007

Friday, December 28th, 2007

In a recent interview Emma was asked about her future in acting. Emma replied that the experience of filming Ballet Shoes made her think “Yeah, maybe I could see myself doing this, maybe this is where I’m meant to be.” The majority of those who have now seen the film I think would agree with her. Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. Here are a few: FT.com, Scotsman.com, The Guardian, The Herald. TV Scoop has a quote which I think sums up most of what I have read very nicely. Emma Watson has instantly stepped out from the shadow of Hermione Granger and  shown herself to be incredibly talented.

Well done, Emma!

We also have a number of caps from the film sent in by Casper. You can view them here in the gallery.

Happy Holidays! // 25 December 2007

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007
Happy Holidays everyone!

As Christmas treats for you we have this beautiful graphic made by Maud and a video made by Neve and Antares. It’s a fan trailer for a movie about Emma’s life… But you’ll have to see for yourself if you want to know more! 😆  Click here to download the video, or watch it on our YouTube here.

A lot of you are wondering about the Christmas project. Here are some pages from the Christmas card with your messages that we sent to Emma. Some people asked for their message to be private, and because we didn’t ask, we will have them all private. You can see what it looked like below. There were 55 pages of your messages to Emma. 🙂

I’m sorry we don’t have a web version of the Christmas Favorites yet. We’ve all been quite busy, but I’ll try to have that soon.

Happy Holidays!

Other Ballet Shoes reviews & trailer // 22 December 2007

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Hey EW.netters,

Solo from our boards found another review of Ballet Shoes, that you can read here. The journalist praised the movie, and Emma’s performance:

Emma Watson, in her first role outside of the Harry Potter series, is surprisingly good. All those prim elocutionary speeches as Hermione are gone, in favour of a natural, likeable portrayal of Pauline, the eldest, who veers between anxiety about her burgeoning acting career, slight smugness and the genuine wish, as they all have, to hold the strange family together.”

Doesn’t this make you wish for December 26th to come faster? 😛

Also, DJohnson from our boards let us know that Emma is ranked #3 in Yahoo’s 10 Most Popular Stars of 2007 – you go, girl! 😆  See who else is on that list here.

Update: thank to Solo (again!) for sending us links to two more Ballet Shoes reviews. This one praises the movie, saying it “has picked up strong critical acclaim, and, for many female viewers, it promises to be a glorious confection for Boxing Day night“, while this one claims that “it’s all great fun and in full faux-30s style“.

Update: We now have the trailer for Ballet Shoes. Thanks to x_BittersweetTemptation for the tip. You will need the Xvid codec to view it. As usual, you can also watch the video on our YouTube.

New articles & “The HP Kids” video // 21 December 2007

Friday, December 21st, 2007

Thanks to Solo from our boards for letting us know about this new article, in which you can read a few new Emma quotes, such as:

“So much of what Pauline is experiencing is similar to what I went through when I auditioned for Harry Potter, says Watson. She becomes famous sort of overnight and I could relate to that. But I also relate to the experience that she goes through earlier. I got into acting because I loved reciting poetry. At my school you had to learn a poem a week and recite it.”

Though we’re not sure whether it’s wise to still trust The Telegraph after what happened a few days ago (for example, we’re really doubtful Emma “only took the role because Ballet Shoes is also a favourite of JK Rowling’s” 😉 ), it’s still an interesting read.

Update: a first review of Ballet Shoes has surfaced on the Internet! You can read it here. Among other things, the article says that “this feature-length adaptation of the classic novel set in 1930s London is sprinkled with magic, including the performance of Harry Potter star Emma Watson. She leaves Hermione Granger and Hogwarts behind to play one of three unrelated orphans adopted by eccentric explorer Professor Brown (Richard Griffiths)” and that “there’s something for both children and adults to enjoy in a drama set to dance into the hearts of viewers.” Once again, thanks to Solo for telling us! 🙂

Another update: we also have the “Emma” segment from Biography’s The Harry Potter Kids online now in our video archive. In the description is a link to a high quality version in Xvid avi. You can also watch the segment on our YouTube. We’ll have the whole program posted there later.

Have a nice week-end!

Video of Emma at the Chanel fashion show // 19 December 2007

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Hey EW.netters,

Many thanks to SilentBelle from our boards for sending us a link to this ELLETV video, which features a short clip of Emma and her Dad at the Chanel fashion show (you can see them at 02:10)  🙂

You can also watch this video on our YouTube.

Update: I’ve added 5 more Ballet Shoes promo pics to the gallery. Thanks to UHP for the tip. New ones are at the end, Click.

Update 2: A lot of you have commented about the Telegraph interview in December 15 update, saying that it was rather sad. Jo from EWO had this to say about the interview:

Emma is a little unhappy with the way that this interview portrays her to be some sort of victim when she absolutely is not. Many (most) of the quotes were either incorrect or completely made up…and Emma doesn’t want you to feel sorry for her!
Direct quote from Emma: “please for goodness sake no one feel sorry for me !!! I consider myself to be one of the luckiest 17 year old girls on this earth”.

Have a great day!
