Quidditch or soccer (2007): "Quidditch. There's more going on, and it's juicy! I'm really competitive. Field hockey is my strongest sport, and if I lose a game, I take a long, hot bath and moan about it. "

Crash Magazine // 10 March 2009

The latest issue of the French Crash magazine has Emma on the cover, and an article with new pictures. It’s a rather different, edgy look, and you’ll probably like them, or hate them. The pictures were taken by Karl Lagerfeld. Credit to Watson Daily for the excellent scans.

Update:

A lot of the information in the interview is stuff we already know, but Neve has translated the interesting parts.

  • She’d like to live in France and go back to speaking French fluently.
  • Emma talks about why and what she wants to learn, mentioning painting, photography, literature and History. She says she’s never really studied politics or philosophy but that she’d like to. She wants to go to university to learn, make new friends and be anonymous. She wants to “feel normal for a while”.
  • She quotes Audrey Hepburn when being asked about how she deals with tabloids: “I don’t care what they write about me, as long as it’s false”.
  • She says that she loves dressing up, that it’s a creative way of expressing yourself, which is why she enjoys it the same way she enjoys Art.
  • She says she genuinely thinks Karl Lagerfeld is a genius and that the photoshoot was one of the nicest she ever did.
  • “I cannot not be “green”. I did my end of school project on global warming and hurricane Katrina. I studied the effects on a small scale, like the dam projects in London, but also on a bigger scale. My car is electric, I recycle, I take public transportation, I try not to buy and drink bottled water. I’m not perfect, but it’s something I feel strongly about.”
  • She’s been listening to a lot of folk and blues lately.
  • Her worst nightmare: sharks.
  • Her favourite sound is that of a baby laughing.
  • Her favourite book is “The Shadow of the Wind” by Carlos Ruiz Zaf

    JUST ONE WORD…………………..GROSS!!!!

  2. EmmaRocksSocks says:

The reaction has been hilarious. Calm down, folks. I'm fine with the shoot, except I was disoriented for a bit at her whited-out eyebrows. XD I'm oriented now. Gotta love this girl and her nerve. 😛 The interview is fantastic, too. I love when she's so open. ^_^

  3. Dalma says:

I like the photos. They look good, but personally I think she didnt work too hard on it. Her face is the same in almost all the photoshots, and sometimes she looks like she doesnt know what to do.

  4. Almaz says:

ohh my god, I think this fotosesion very HATE

  5. JoAnn says:

Emma is a fantastic model—she can do it all. She is also very smart. This is Karl Lagerfeld, folks, the one who calls the shots at Chanel. This is a really, really, big time connection in the modeling world. Is there anything Emma CAN'T do??????

  6. jeanette says:

OMG. !!! What has happen to her eyebrows.. :O … The interview is nice though.. 😀 …

  7. Roger says:

Emma's car is electric? Anybody know what she bought?

  8. Kaytie says:

I have a mixed reaction to this photoshoot…I neither dislike nor love it. I personally hate these photos, they don't do much for Emma's natural beauty amd the clothes she is wearing are among a few words hideous. Although I do congratulate Emma on doing a very different photoshoot as this. Being different and standing out from the crowd is why we love Emma and this photoshoot shows us why.

    http://www.forbes.com/2009/03/10/teen-star-currency-business-media-forbes-sta r-currency_slide_2.html?thisspeed=25000 Emma is number 6!

  10. Fonty says:

Her car is a hybrid, part gasoline and electric. A Toyota Prius or something like that. At least that´s what I remember.

  11. aida says:

I love this photoshoot!Very edgy, but I still love it.I also love the interview. For all of you who think that Emma should act like a little girl, and not be herself, are not real fans. You should respect her,and not post comments like "I hate it,it's to erotic" or whatever…

  12. Aragon says:

    its a Great article !!!

  13. Aragon says:

its a great article about Emm 🙂

  14. Aragon says:

    its a great article

  15. Anna says:

Hmmm… not so crazy about the photoshoot. Her face looks strange without her usually prominent (and lovely) eyebrows!

  16. Vills says:

I only like about 2 or 3 of all the photos.. Sorry, Em! It IS very.. futuristic and all. But still, that doesnt make it beautiful :/ Though, unlike many, I like the effect of the white eyebrows 🙂

  17. Mina says:

She looks anorexic. As if she were dead. Huh. Sad, somehow. I always thought she was pretty but there she looks like one of those models. Nothing of her usual unique beauty. Very sad, imo.

  18. Rob Roy says:

poor Emma what have they done with you, sorry but they pics look horrible

  19. cemal says:

    I think great:) 🙂

  20. sunkist says:

I don't like that picture. She kind of looks like Kristen Stewart. Not that I don't like Kristen Stewart. I saw her in The Messengers and Speak and I thought she did a good job. There is only one picture I like out of that whole thing. I think it's the picture where she has her hands on her hips.

  21. Daphne says:

umm im gonna have nightmeres for like months cause of this photoshoot

  22. Hemma says:

OMG – that's so not what we usually see of her!!! Well, that's probably fashion, but the make-up looks a bit odd!!!!!!!! 😆

  23. Tim says:

Some people just need to grow up.

  24. Jenny says:

    interesting

  25. mea says:

Somebody asked if we would still hate this photoshoot if it was anybody besides Emma… and my answer is YES! I don't think this would make anybody look good.

  26. Amanda says:

    Awesome! Love it!!

  27. lilykins says:

I honestly admire how she can always manages to surprise us and to stay unpredictable. To actually do this kind of photoshoot that she has never done before and to know that people's reactions are going to be mixed because it's "a new side" of her deserves my respect. Bravo Emma, I still love you. In fact, I think I love you even more because of this.

  28. carina says:

What's up with the eyebrows??? 😕 I HATE THE PICTURES! Normally Emma looks so so so… Beautiful, but not this! 🙁

  29. Aerendyl says:

    Like the new info 🙂

  30. Emma says:

    Yeah 🙂 😆

  31. frederique says:

Fernanda Souza : thanx so much 4 the pics but where does that come from??

  32. DHA says:

Mixed emotions, I see and a lot of comments. I just wanted to say play these chords, (A,B,C,B,A,B,C,B, and E,F#,G,F#,E,F#,G,F#) and you got the blues.

  33. KS987 says:

Thanks for the picture Fernanda. 🙂 I loved that photo and it is great to see another pic of Emma in the red dress. 🙂

  34. EmmaRocksSocks says:

I love her in that red dress, too. 😛

  35. Anya says:

    I just hope that Emma doesn't do photo-shoot like this again……. 😡

  36. Rupert fan13 says:

    She looks….odd 😕

  37. ! says:

terrible.. she's had much better photoshoots 😕

  38. alek200 says:

    horrible 🙁 🙁 🙁 😡 😡 😥 😥 😥

  39. ragenfox says:

wow i didnt know that emma is 2 short and the eyebrows is what make her very pretty but now…… oow

  40. Bee says:

IDC what others say. all you ppl! i like them. this is her nitch and she should dump acting after HP and start modeling. this must be a very creative form for her. wonderful but not the best.

  41. Valentina says:

I like the photoshoot, cause it's different, and great more information about Emma!!

  42. Michelle says:

I like them in some way, it's not a bad photoshoot, it's very original! Though it's not my thing and I definitely prefer other shoots.

  43. Lina says:

I find beuty boring, it is always the same. A lot of Emma's earlier photo shoots were VERY boring (style mag, flare, etc). Now, finally, someone has dared to take away her most prominent feature (eyebrows, :P) and I don't think there's been a time when she was more beautiful, more intense or more fierce. I've been wishing for a collaboration between Emma and Karl Lagerfeldt, but this was way better than I imagined. He's seen exactly what Emma needed to take the step from the cute and innocent little child actress she no longer is.

  44. !Federica! says:

this are the best scans emma has ever done..! and i think karl is the best..these pictures are very diffucult to do, and only people like karl can have ideas like these..! furthermore..emma looks B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L, this photos are not usual..and only very few people can do them! theese photos are part of high-modelling!

  45. britishemmafan says:

I love it! i do all that recycle stuff too!! 😉 I'm not Lying. It's really important to us!!!

  46. Horatius says:

Come on! People always talks bad about her "crazy" eyebrows.Well, now she dont have eyebrows anymore, so she will act better. 😡

  47. G from Italy says:

Ok, call me morbid but…. I like them! I mean, probably (most surely) they're not the best way to celebrate em's classy beauty, but… forget for a second about Em and look at the pictures; they're cold, almost cruel, and Emma's gaze has something evil… I genuinely believe she's acting in the pictures, so is not the usual "smile and click" stuff. I think we ALL should be very proud of her. It would be very easy to rely only on beauty (and she's got A LOT of material to rely on!), while she DARES, DARES, DARES. She ultimately rocks the hell out of me!!

  48. ragenFOX says:

    no….

  49. Miri says:

I think she looks a little bit like a boy^^ sorry.. LG
