Emma in Vanity Fair

Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller are in Vanity Fair‘s October issue in a feature about The Perks of Being a Wallflower. In a video from the photoshoot they talk about becoming friends, filming the tunnel scene, and the meaning of the movie.

What is it about the Smiths that makes the melancholic 80s band something of a Bat Signal for cultured and cute vintage-wearing dream girls? In writer-director Stephen Chbosky’s new The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a wonderful film based on Chbosky’s own novel, the pixieish, Smiths-adoring love interest, Sam, is played by Emma Watson, in her first significant post-Hermione role. Sam’s suitor, Charlie, is played by Logan Lerman. Perhaps inevitably, he is a clinically depressed introvert who befriends Sam and her punky stepbrother, Patrick—the inestimable Ezra Miller—at a high-school football game. Charlie and Sam soon reveal their shared love of British glum-pop, including the Smiths’ “Asleep,” which is ironic, or appropriate, because the film details how Charlie finally wakes up thanks to Sam’s tender, nonjudgmental companionship. The metaphor is not as heavy-handed as it sounds.

If Hollywood were a high-school cafeteria—a tremendous stretch of the imagination!—the three young leads would most certainly sit at the center of the cool table. Watson and Lerman will next star in Darren Aronofsky’s big-screen adaptation of Genesis chapters 6 to 9, Noah, while Miller will play opposite Mia Wasikowska in Madame Bovary, providing an even greater service to teenagers than showcasing the triumph of the loner: giving them a way around reading Madame Bovary.

Watching this video gets me the feeling that Emma is more confident with Logan and Ezra than she was with Dan and Rupert, don’t you think?
However, I love it: they look like best friends… can’t wait to watch Perks!

She is just growing up and changing, which is to be expected after one leaves home and does a few years of college and works away from what she grew up with. Her relationship with Rupert and Dan is very different in the fact that they are more brothers to her than with Erza and Logan which is a more normal friend-coworker relationship.

    wow they seem close

Yes, they seem to have great chemistry. I am sure that was due to them living and playing together at the Crowne Plaza Hotel for several weeks. She probably had a lot of fun with the cast and it shows. 🙂

Expanded clip of the tunnel scene from Movieclips. Sounds really good when she says “Turn it up!” 😀

I know that Ezra said that he’s gay in out magazine but I think he’s Bi and from the way he was looking at Emma I think he has a crush on her. I know I’m going to get a lot of flack for saying this but his say that there’s more than just friendship for her.

Well, I think, that every reasonable sane man is in danger to have a crush on her…. Nothing to think about; there are millions out there, feeling the same!

Emma will always have her special bond with Dan and Rupert. Plus we never got to see BTS of photoshoots with the trio (which always annoyed me). Emma has known Dan and Rupert since she was 9 years old-she grew up with them. In my opinion, I think Emma seems more comfortable with her original boys. But there ya go-I knew that there would be that debate of the original trio vs. the new “trio” LOL Anyway Emma looks stunning in this shoot. I also like Logan with his hat by the car. Cute!

It’s amazing how what Chbosky told Emma basically came true. She bonded with and became friends with the rest of the cast very quickly and she seems to view Perks as one of her best experiences. 🙂 It seems like befriending Emma usually leads to a race. She would win a race against me with very little trouble. Unless the prize for winning was a date with Emma. I’d run faster than I ever had in my entire life. She’s beautiful as always and I can’t wait to see the rest of this issue and photoshoot.
