FULL PRESS RELEASE:

BURBANK, CA, March 23, 2007 – Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will reprise the roles they have made their own: teen wizards Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, respectively, in Warner Bros. Pictures “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the final two motion picture adaptions of J.K. Rowling’s best-selling book series. The announcement was made today by Jeff Robinov, President of Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.

In making the announcement, Robinov said, “When Daniel, Rupert and Emma were first cast as Harry, Ron and Hermione, we knew they were not only talented but had a very special chemistry. Through the years, and in each of the ‘Harry Potter’ films, we have watched them grow into extraordinary young adults, as well as remarkable actors. It would be inconceivable to imagine anyone else in the roles with which they have become so identified, so we are thrilled and proud that Daniel, Rupert and Emma have chosen to complete the arc of their character in the final two films.”

Both “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” are being produced by David Heyman, who has produced all of the Harry Potter films to date and was instrumental in bringing the franchise to the screen, beginning with the first blockbuster, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”   David Barron, who served as an executive producer on “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” and is a producer on the upcoming “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” will also be producing the final two installments of the franchise.

Producer David Heyman said, “One of the highlights of this journey has been to witness Dan, Rupert and Emma blossom from children into young adults. They have emerged as consummate professionals who are dedicated to honing their craft and striving for excellence. And yet, throughout, they have retained their enhusiasm and spirit, and they remain, to this day, the same wonderful, kind and generous individuals I met all those years ago.”

Daniel Radcliffe remarked, “Playing the role of Harry Potter has been an immense privilege, and I look forward to completing the series. I feel a huge sense of loyalty to the character of Harry and the fans who have supported these films over the years. During filming, I have learnt so much, made lots of friends and met people who have changed my life. I am indebted to J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros. and David Heyman for giving me this fantastic opportunity.”

Emma Watson stated, “I could never let Hermione go — she is my hero! I love her too much and love what playing her has meant to me. I am excited and honoured to be finishing what I started and playing her in all seven of films.”

Rupert Grint offered, “Ron Weasley has become a big part of my life and not just because we’ve both got ginger hair! I’ve been so proud to play him and loved every second of being part of his world. I’m really looking forward to filming the last two films and being back with my ‘Weasley family’ and, of course, to seeing my good friends Emma and Dan. Thank you to everyone for being so supportive over the years; we couldn’t have done it without you.”

Warner Bros. Pictures’ fifth films in the series, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” is slated for release in the U.S. on July 13, 2007.

Emma leaving the HP franchise? // 18 March 2007

Bad news guys. According to this article Emma did NOT sign for the next two Harry Potter movies and the WB confirmed it. Right now, we don’t know anything else, so stay tuned for any update.

Even if this is the end of an era, Emma has to know that we respect her decision and that we’ll support her no matter what. She doesn’t need to play Hermione for us to love her.

EDIT: OK, I’ve just been told by many people that “News of the World” isn’t exactly the most reliable source out there (I didn’t know it, because I just didn’t know “News of the World”, it doesn’t exist in France). So don’t panic, it may just be another silly rumor. Let’s wait for something official from the WB 🙂

UPDATE: according to CBBC Newsround (which is quite more reliable than The Sun or News of the World), nothing is signed yet but a spokesperson for Warner Bros said: “We’re extremely confident that Emma will be back for films six and seven.”

So let’s just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best 🙂

Has Emma signed? // 17 March 2007

Newsflash everyone!!

An article in the Sun is reporting that Emma has signed for the last two movies. “Sources at studio Warner Brothers say she has just signed a deal to star in the last two adaptations of the JK Rowling books.”

The article also talks about a stalker incident at her school and that police were called in to handle an overzealous fan.

This is all just rumor at this point. We’ll let you know more when we can.

You can read the full article here. Thanks to Joseph for the news tip.

Calendar Competition, Chatbox // 17 March 2007

First up, it’s time to announce the monthly Calendar Competition 😆

Here are the rules again. 😉

  • The size of the calender should be at least 1024×768
  • It must have Emma-Watson.net and April on it
  • Your calendar should be in by the 30th of March
  • All entries must be sent to emmawatson.graphics@gmail.com
  • Good luck and have fun 🙂

And second, I’m getting rather tired of warning people that the comments are not a chatbox. 😡 So, I have decided to add a chatbox to the site. There are some rules, which you should read, but basically if you act respectfully towards others, you can chat about almost anything. Last nights football game, your favorite pizza, how boring school is. If you have comments about the news though we’d like you to post it here in the comments. The chatbox will be monitored, but here in the comments is where you should talk about the news, and the site. We’ll try it out for a while, and if it works out ok, and people mostly behave, we’ll keep it. You can find the chatbox on our Interact page, or use the link below. There is also a link to a popup chatbox so you can chat and continue browsing the site. 🙂

Have a good day!

HP French Stamps: the return! // 15 March 2007

Hey Emma fans,

I couldn’t resist buying another set of the HP stamps that are available this week in France… This time, I chose the Ron Weasley-themed one, not only because Ron rocks (duh!) but also because other beloved HP characters are featured on that particular set: not only Harry, Ginny, Luna and Neville but also and more importantly the brightest witch of her age: Hermione Granger! This Hermione stamp is slighly different from the one we posted a few days ago… so enjoy!

And you can buy all the French HP stamps online here (click on the links under “existe aussi en” to see the other sets available). Thanks to our friends from UHP for letting us know 🙂

Have a nice day,

Shippers music video contest // 13 March 2007

Hello everybody !

Due to how successful our Hermione music video contest was and because the release OotP is coming closer everyday (yay!) we decided that it would be a good idea to launch another HP-related music video contest… except that this time the music videos will not be about Hermione only but either about Ron & Hermione or Harry & Hermione. In other words, we’re having a shippers music video contest! 😆

The rules are simple:

Create your own music video with clips from the movies, the deleted scenes, the Queen’s Birthday skit, promo pictures, drawings, or even quotes… You can use softwares like Windows Movie Maker or Sony Vegas.

Keep in mind that you CANNOT have clips or pictures featuring Emma, Dan and Rupert as themselves (in interviews or in behind-the-scenes clips, for example). It’s all about Hermione, Harry and Ron, OK?

Choose your ship! It’s either Harry & Hermione OR Ron & Hermione, you can’t have both in your music video.

Please be respectful of the other ship, don’t include sarcastic or mean comments in your music video. The contest is about love, not hate! 🙂

Don’t forget the credits at the end of your music video (the music, the sites where you found the clips or the pictures you used).

Upload your music video (with rapidshare, megaupload, sendspace…) and send the link to emmawatson.contest@gmail.com. No YouTube link will be accepted! Oh and don’t forget to add a few comments about your video in your email, they’ll help me write the article if you win!

By sending us your video, you give us the authorisation to upload it on EW.net and its YouTube.

The deadline is Sunday May 13th.

The staff team will select the three best music videos for each category (R/H and H/H) and the results will be published in our online magazine Watson Weekly.

We’re also happy to announce that the 1st place winners in each category will each receive two of the French stamps that were recently released (a Hermione stamp & a Harry stamp for the H/H winner, and a Hermione stamp & a Ron stamp for the R/H winner). I will send them to you by snail mail myself 😆

Happy video-making and good luck to all!

Neve.

Stamps and Horoscopes // 12 March 2007

Hello guys!

How are you today? Well, I certainly am fine, since I got to purchase the HP stamps that were released in France on Saturday 😆  And I scanned them just for your viewing pleasure… so enjoy!

Oh and we’d like to thank Naveed, Sarah and Hanna for letting us know that Emma graced the Horoscopes page of Teen Vogue in this month issue 🙂

Update: thanks to the awesome site UHP, we now have other scans of the F

HP Stamps, Create a Calendar, and a Birthday // 10 March 2007

Hi everyone  🙂

On February 9 we told you about a series of promotional Order of the Phoenix stamps from France. They have now been released and you can see them all online at http://www.fetedutimbre.com/. The site is in French, but if you click on “Produits” in the upper corner you can find the stamps and other items. Emma, as Hermione, is featured on several of them.

How would you like to help design an HP calendar? Well, Borders is letting you do just that. In the spring they will offer a Harry Potter 2008 wall calendar, and you can help choose which images they will use. Go here to vote for your favorite HP images. You can only pick 5, but you are allowed to vote as often as you like. Let’s make sure Emma is well represented  🙂 . Unfortuneately, it looks like the calendar will only be sold in US stores, but I believe anyone can vote and show their support for Emma. The voting ends March 23, so get voting.  😛

And today is staff member Jasmine’s birthday. Happy Birthday Jasmine! 😆

Update:
It seems that rumor about Emma in a new St Trinians movie was nonsense. According to Variety, the only Watson in the cast is Emily Watson. Thanks to Solo on the forums for the tip.

Have a great weekend.
