About David Yates directing OotP (2007): "He was perfect for this. I don't know if he could have directed any of the other ones. This was his story to tell. He's quiet, thoughtful, sensitive. Mike (Newell, director of Goblet of Fire) would sit in his chair and yell at us, or stand up and just be very loud and British. Whereas David will think for a bit, he'll come over, speak a few words, keep it to a minimum. The thing that always comes up with David is finding truth in the characters, truth in the performance, make it real."

Colin Asks Lucy Out

Eddie Redmayne, who plays Colin Clark in My Week with Marilyn, talked with Glamour.com about working with Emma on the film.

“I hadn’t worked with her before and it was a real treat. And you can’t complain about kissing Emma Watson. Isn’t that what everyone in the world wants to do? I’ve known Emma for a few years. She’s this amazing capacity of young and vibrant and brilliant, but also a bright, intelligent old soul. She came in for two days to do this… And she was in the middle of doing all this Harry Potter press, and I was astounded that she could even set her mind on it. And she did an amazing job.”

Have you seen the film yet? Let us know what you think.

My Week with Marilyn – On the Red Carpet

I’ve added a number of My Week with Marilyn red carpet interviews with Emma Watson to the video gallery. Emma talked about Marilyn Monroe, other cast members and her role as Lucy. She also talked about continuing school and hinted at plans for next year.

“I loved it. It was less pressure, but at the same time it was an interesting role, although it was a small role. I loved the script and loved the story, and I’m very interested in Marilyn, so I really wanted to do it. I’m very proud of it, and I’m really pleased with my part in it.”

“It’s really nice … just to have that steady routine and back being home, being around people I love and doing what I love. I’m studying and really excited about my next projects. I can’t really talk about them right now, but I am going to try and fit in some film projects next year in between school.”

New Promos for My Week With Marilyn

The Weinstein Company has released two new promotional videos for My Week with Marilyn. Each features a few brief shots of Emma Watson, including some new ones. My Week with Marilyn premieres Sunday in the UK, and opens in selected theatres on the 23rd. Thanks to Anna for the tip.

My Week with Marilyn Premiere this Sunday

My Week with Marilyn will have its UK Premiere this Sunday the 20th at the Cineworld Haymarket theatre in London. A couple of sources have listed Emma Watson as attending, but I would treat this as a rumor until we get more reliable information. Celebrity arrivals will likely start between 5 and 6 PM.

In the early summer of 1956, 23 year-old Colin Clark, just down from Oxford and determined to make his way in the film business, worked as a lowly assistant on the set of “THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL”, the film that united Sir Laurence Olivier with Marilyn Monroe, who, whilst shooting, was also on honeymoon with her new husband, the playwright Arthur Miller.

Emma plays Lucy, a wardrobe girl on the movie set, and love-interest of Colin. Emma says about her character, “Lucy has experience on set, whereas to Colin Clark the film world is all new, shiny and exciting. She is very wary about Assistant Directors and she knows how these films run, but she‟s still a bit naïve and innocent. Even though at first she‟s very careful of Colin, she falls for him and ends up getting hurt.”

Another still of Emma as Lucy is now out. Click the thumb for a larger view.

My Week with Marilyn opens in limited release November 23.
