This and That

New Deathly Hallows Banners

A couple new banners for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows have be released recently. In one the trio are seen escaping from Gringott’s on a dragon, and the other shows the battle between good and evil on the grounds of Hogwarts.

Emma in Lancôme ad and other scans

Ok, not the Lancôme ads we are waiting for, but it is Emma Watson in what appears to be an ad for the brand in the Russian Harper’s Bazaar. Thanks to Elmira for the scan who also sent in scans from the Russian Glamour, and US Weekly.

Emma on University

Emma, along with some other young stars, was interviewed for an article in the LA Times about young actors and the decision they must make about continuing their education. For most people, a college education is a path to better paying jobs and a secure future. Emma’s financial security is pretty much set, but Emma chose to continue with her education and career at the same time. It’s not been easy.

“I’ve had to say no to stuff that people have been gobsmacked about. I’ve had big directors say to me, ‘What do you mean, you can’t do this movie? We don’t understand,'” the actress, now 21, said recently by phone from her native England. “I always hear, ‘What do you mean she can’t do this magazine cover?’ or ‘What do you mean she can’t have this meeting for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?’ And my agent will say, ‘She’s at school, sorry.’

“Yes, it’s hard for me to turn down amazing opportunities. But I’ve been working solidly since I’ve been 9 years old. So for me, to have this space to learn and figure myself out a bit is obviously worth it.”

In March, Emma announced on her site that she would be taking a break from University. “As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible. I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects. I will still be working towards my degree… it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought : )” In this latest interview, she explained her decision a little more.

“On the last movie, I flew around on this crazy press tour, and then came back and tried to do my finals,” she recalled. “I wasn’t sleeping. And I realized, ‘Oh, my God, I can’t do this again.’ I wasn’t going to be able to get the best out of being at Brown and do justice to saying goodbye to ‘Harry Potter’ properly.”

In several recent interviews Emma has said she will return to her studies in the fall.

As much as it would pain the fans to not see or hear from her for a while, she needs a good, decent length vacation from everything to get refreshed and rejuvenated when she is done filming perks and promoting Harry Potter. She does almost too much for one person to handle and she like everyone else just needs a break to slow things down. I hope it all works out for her in the end and we will all be better for it if it does

I could not imagine to fly around the world, knowing that my studies are waiting for me. Emma is totally right taking a time out to finish Harry Potter.

Now I’m understanding how much Emma strong psychologically… She has surprising ability to sustain the status of a big star and thus do what she wants and what is necessary for her.
I am amazed to her firm mentality. No one can brake her. It’s necessary for everyone to follow her example.Few words about resting:”Life is given to you not to take a rest but to feel yourself unbreakable”

The US vogue interview is up… It’s confronting and compelling, finally an interview with some guts to it and a journalist who can actually write

I totally agree. This is a side of Emma I’m not sure many repoters or journalists could uncover. It’s exquisite. For the first time in an interview you get a sense of some of the pain and hard work she puts herself through. You get a sense of how she feels, and how she has felt. And most of all, you DON’T get the reporter only focousing on the obvious – her beauty, her fashion sense, whats inside her house. I love this. I may be biased, buts it’s my favourite issue of Vogue yet 😉

Had to laugh at the responses by Emma’s Paris Lancome part dress from US weekly. I love, love, LOVE Emma’s style but.. c’mon Emma.. That dress was horrifying, really the worst thing she ever put on.

    • Joyce says:

I didn’t think so 🙂 It was bold, different and unexpected. Whats more, I couldn’t have expected such a simple dress to make such a STATEMENT. I loved it. But then again, I guess thats a matter of opinion 🙂 Personally, for me the worst thing Emma has ever worn would have to be the dress she wore to the Deathly Hallows Q&A, that also got photographed by Joel Ryan.

Pretty much the first thing that came to mind when I heard Emma was taking a break from Brown was the fact she had to film My Week With Marilyn and promote Deathly Hallows part 1, then had to make up all the work that she missed along with preparing for finals. Not to mention that had she not taken a break then she would have immediately started filming Perks right afterwards, then she would also have to promote Deathly Hallows part 2. Then she would probably only have the last couple of weeks of July and the month of August off(as long as nothing else came up) before it’s back to Brown in September. She really needed and deserved the break.

I’m still surprised that it hasn’t been announced when the Lancome ads will come out. Maybe we will find out soon.

I think Emma choosing to have a break from Brown to concentrate on acting was the right decision because she’s right she couldn’t juggle both if she wasn’t sleeping 🙂 xx
