About working on her People Tree collection (2010): "It was a really long process putting all this together. I had no idea all the work involved. You really have to start at the basics. Safia and I had an initial meeting and we went through and chose the fabrics we wanted to use. Then choosing the styles took a long time. Again a lot of inspiration came from my wardrobe and friends' wardrobes and I added my own style to it. Then going through the pantone books and choosing colours, but this don't necessarily look the same once you've dyed something. You learn these things as you go along. It's massively time consuming. We did a first set of samples and some looked good and some needed altering a lot."

New Mariano Vivanco Images

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

More stunning images from Emma’s photoshoot with Mariano Vivanco! New photos can be seen in a new interview at University Magazine. From the questions and answers, the interview appears to be from late last year, so nothing really new, but still worth reading.

Screen magazine from Japan also features a new photo by Vivanco in the July issue, along with two new promotional photos from Deathly Hallows. Thanks Snitchseeker.

Two New Deathly Hallows Banners

It All Ends

The end is coming soon. The last images will fade, the credits will roll, and the screen will go dark. David Yates spoke about filming the last scene with Emma, Dan and Rupert and I think it really fits the mood that many of us our feeling. Soon we will “reflect on everything that’s happened”, and Harry Potter will just be a memory.

** SPOILER **

We shot the scene on the viaduct, outside Hogwarts, and it was really peaceful. It was a really sunny day. It was all backlit. And it’s a very tender scene where they sort of reflect on everything that’s happened, all the battles and everything, and they hold hands, and the camera falls away. It’s a really tender, lovely scene.

I said to them, ‘Look, guys, this is the last scene we’re all going to do with you three together in front of the camera. So, it’s not just the last scene of these three characters in the movie, this is your last scene in this series of films. That’s what today is about.’ And it infused it with a kind of emotion which was really moving actually.

Vogue – Behind-the-Scenes with Emma

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

Vogue.com has released a video made during the photoshoot for Emma’s feature in the magazine. The shoot took place the day before her 21st birthday, calling it a ‘massive deal’, poignant and surreal. She also reveals a rather unusual birthday gift she asked for. There have been a lot of comments of how different she looks, and Emma agrees, “I walked over to the monitor and I’ve never seen myself look like this before. It was like “Who’s that girl? Who is that, with the lips?” It’s a great video and I think you’ll enjoy it.

Emma’s “New Day” in Vogue

Monday, June 13th, 2011

Emma Watson opens up in the latest issue of Vogue and gives us a glimpse into her real life. She talks about university, Perks, her clothing lines, romance and growing up with Hermione. HP has given her wealth and fame that most can only dream about, but it has come at a cost. “I have had no control over my life,” she says. “I have lived in a complete bubble. And now I’m desperately trying to find my way through it.” With Emma’s drive and determination, I think she will do just fine.

It’s the pixie-cut hair and flawless skin that give her away. Emma Watson is dressed unobtrusively in a cotton flower-print French Connection dress and beige sandals, but she is unmistakable. Fans have accosted her five times in the past half hour alone. Today is the actress’s twenty-first birthday, and she is determined to spend it as she pleases—which means a leisurely mid-morning latte followed by a stroll through the Joan Miró exhibition at London’s Tate Modern.

Emma ignores the stares and continues to chat animatedly about Miró’s willingness to take risks with his art. An avid painter herself—“I love it and have a need to do it”—she can talk eloquently about every picture on the wall. Her favorite is The Farm, a painting once owned by Ernest Hemingway that brought the artist his first taste of success outside Spain. What she admires, Emma tells me, is that Miró was both a draftsman and a painter, unafraid to combine these talents to create something that was simultaneously surreal and hyperreal.

Her words could just as well apply to what is happening around us. The increasingly febrile atmosphere is, frankly, terrifying as word filters through that Hermione Granger, Emma’s alter ego (who will make her final appearance in this month’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2), is in the building. A raucous band of teenagers turns around and heads straight toward her. “It’s time to go,” she says, and we head swiftly for the nearest exit. Outside, a photographer in a tree starts snapping away until she is inside the car and driving away.

This is not an experience most people would ever wish to repeat, but Emma resumes her breathless discussion as though nothing untoward just happened. “I have to really enjoy the good things because it makes the bad things OK,” she explains. Learning how to put her life into some kind of perspective and carve her own meaning onto it has been the great challenge of the past two years.

Emma in Lancôme ad and other scans

Ok, not the Lancôme ads we are waiting for, but it is Emma Watson in what appears to be an ad for the brand in the Russian Harper’s Bazaar. Thanks to Elmira for the scan who also sent in scans from the Russian Glamour, and US Weekly.

Emma on University

Emma, along with some other young stars, was interviewed for an article in the LA Times about young actors and the decision they must make about continuing their education. For most people, a college education is a path to better paying jobs and a secure future. Emma’s financial security is pretty much set, but Emma chose to continue with her education and career at the same time. It’s not been easy.

“I’ve had to say no to stuff that people have been gobsmacked about. I’ve had big directors say to me, ‘What do you mean, you can’t do this movie? We don’t understand,'” the actress, now 21, said recently by phone from her native England. “I always hear, ‘What do you mean she can’t do this magazine cover?’ or ‘What do you mean she can’t have this meeting for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?’ And my agent will say, ‘She’s at school, sorry.’

“Yes, it’s hard for me to turn down amazing opportunities. But I’ve been working solidly since I’ve been 9 years old. So for me, to have this space to learn and figure myself out a bit is obviously worth it.”

In March, Emma announced on her site that she would be taking a break from University. “As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible. I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects. I will still be working towards my degree… it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought : )” In this latest interview, she explained her decision a little more.

“On the last movie, I flew around on this crazy press tour, and then came back and tried to do my finals,” she recalled. “I wasn’t sleeping. And I realized, ‘Oh, my God, I can’t do this again.’ I wasn’t going to be able to get the best out of being at Brown and do justice to saying goodbye to ‘Harry Potter’ properly.”

In several recent interviews Emma has said she will return to her studies in the fall.
